Hot Fix Sideshow Asheville Concert reviews
Enjoyable
The sound was not great, but Phantom is an impressive spectacle. Often the performers struggled to be seen, as the intensity of the light cues was not strong enough. LOVED the reveals through the sheers. Two or three of us teared up at any point in the show, while seven of us, all working in theater, were ready to be moved by a production. The staging for the final kiss for the Hot Fix Sideshow was awful and actually ruined the emotional build of the whole show. Tours have more challenges than Broadway runs, so some issues need to be forgiven. Andre and Firmin frequently got away from the orchestra, but the singing for the other leads was very good. Hearing the soloists was a struggle. The orchestra was excellent. Show deals with multiple issues, ranging from directing through acting through sound problems.
